Lynwood Avenue Elementary Students Go the Distance in Marathon May

  • Throughout the months of May and June, Lynwood Avenue Elementary School students laced up their sneakers and hit the pavement as part of Marathon May, a physical education and recess initiative promoting health and wellness through running.

The program, powered by the Marathon Kids app, encouraged students to scan their laps and track their progress as they logged miles during their daily activities. Marathon Kids is a nonprofit organization that aims to combat youth inactivity by motivating children to engage in consistent physical activity in a fun, goal-oriented way.

Lynwood students collectively ran an impressive 1,450 miles, showcasing determination, endurance and school spirit.

Special recognition goes to the school’s Top 3 Runners, all third grade students:

  • * No. 1 Niko Rivas – 50.82 miles.
  • * No. 2 Fabian Bedoya – 42.67 miles.
  • * No. 3 Olivia Dodge – 31.68 miles.

Each of the top runners received a $50 Amazon gift card, generously sponsored by the Lynwood Avenue PTA.

Kudos to all participants for their effort and enthusiasm, and a special thanks to Mr. Matthew Golini and the PE staff for making this initiative a success.
